Project Overview
The Osagrove Flats Wind Farm Project (Project) is an approximately 150-megawatt (MW) wind farm facility which will be located on approximately 21,195 acres in Osage and Groveland townships, in LaSalle County, Illinois. The Project will produce wind-powered electricity that will maximize energy production from readily available resources in order to deliver clean, renewable electricity to Illinois customers.
The Project will consist of up to 45 new, commercially available, utility-scale wind turbine generators. The Project will also include gravel access roads, an underground electrical collection and control system, Project substation, a permanent meteorological tower, and an operations and maintenance facility. The Project will connect to the power grid to serve the local community and is expected to generate enough electricity to power over 24,400 homes annually.
The Project will provide significant short- and long-term economic benefit to the local community. It is estimated that the Project will generate significant property tax revenues over the its lifetime. These revenues will provide funding to the County, local schools, emergency services, townships, and other tax bodies. Further, the Project will provide direct lease payments to participating landowners, and a voluntary Neighbor Payment to provide direct monetary payments to those residents living within approximately a half mile of the Project, but without facilities on their property. The Project is expected to generate approximately 300 temporary construction positions and four to six permanent and locally based positions.
